Job Description

MPA Healthcare Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Clinical Informaticist. This individual will be an integral member of our team. The MPA team includes physicians, statisticians, analysts, and programmers. S/he will have access to statistical expertise and will collaborate and network with members of the team. The position requires a Ph.D. or Master’s in a field relevant to health services research (i.e. Bio-informatics, clinical informatics, epidemiology, health research methodology, health services research), or an M.D. with additional training or experience in a related field.  The candidate should aspire to create, evaluate, and implement high value patient-centric care delivery models with the goal to improve value of health care delivery.

Proficiency Expectations:

The Health Services Researcher is expected to possess a broad understanding in the following areas:

  • Comparative effectiveness research
  • Performance & quality measurement
  • Statistical and modeling methodologies, including descriptive and inferential statistics, multivariate modeling of observational data including hierarchical (random effects) approaches, Cox proportional hazards regression, and the use of propensity scores
  • Experience working with large datasets
  • A strong publication record (preferred)
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The Health Services Researcher’s responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing analytic project designs
  • Understanding client requests and establishing a project plan to fulfill requirements while being aware of deadlines
  • Applying knowledge of study design and bio-statistical methodology to advise and collaborate with current development staff on research data design, collection, analysis and reporting
  • Assisting in database development and identifies opportunities to capture additional data points and outcomes such as patient satisfaction and functional outcomes.
  • Identifying and responding to opportunities for research, with awareness of potential funding sources
  • Maintaining current knowledge on the latest developments and trends in clinical research informatics and analysis
  • Providing presentation development support
Required Qualifications:
  • MS, MD/MPH or PhD required
  • 1+ years of healthcare experience with focus on clinical research design and clinical data management and analysis
  • Leadership: Ability to identify issues/projects and initiates plans to address; Demonstrates forthrightness and integrity. Ability to develop a common vision for diverse constituents, communicate effectively, sell ideas, and take ownership and responsibility for activities
  • Discretion and Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters discreetly.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to conceptualize and conduct complex analysis (financial, clinical, and operational)
  • Critical Thinking/Decision Making: Ability to appropriately evaluate all aspects of a situation and to independently make appropriate and timely decisions
  • Interpersonal/communication: Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and a good command of English language, including medical and scientific terminology
  • Time Management and Organizational Skills: Able to work on several projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines
  • Software Competencies: Proficient in business software including word processing, presentation development, and spreadsheets (Programming experience with SAS and other statistical software and database software such as Oracle, SQL, MS Access greatly preferred)
