MPA’s Operational Structure to Support Hospital/Physician Alignment and ACOs Published in the American Journal of Surgery • 07.23.10

MPA’s Virtual Partnership was applied to four surgical conditions and published in an article titled Virtual partnerships: aligning hospital and physician incentives in the July 2010 issue of the American Journal of Surgery. The Virtual Partnership uses currently available data to create an ideal operational structure to support the equitable division of revenue between hospitals and physicians. This is particularly important to the successful management of any ACO. The paper also describes how the principles of the Virtual Partnership can be expanded beyond the hospital/physician relationship to include payers and to promote an effective, efficient healthcare delivery system.
