Dr. Fry Makes MPA Case for Warranties in the NY Times • 05.28.10

Dr. Fry makes the case for health care warranties in an article titled Who Pays for Medical Complications? written by surgeon and author Pauline W. Chen, M.D. The article presents the weaknesses and potentially dangerous effects of unilateral non-payment strategies, citing MPA’s article published in the Archives of Surgery. In his interview with Dr. Chen, Dr. Fry explained the impact of patient characteristics on clinical outcomes and how a risk-adjusted warranty can be used to hold providers accountable for clinical quality without unfairly penalizing providers who treat sicker patients.
